We were looking for a replacement component in our Strider blend, and this estate lot from the Andrade brothers stood out as an easy selection, and has quickly become a staff favourite as a single-origin coffee too.
The Andrade family operate two large farms in Minas Gerais, starting with Capim Branco in 1901 and acquiring São Silvestre in 1991. Their reputation precedes them as far as specialty coffee goes in Brazil, and the high elevation near Serra do Salitre produces a dense and complex natural coffee.
This mix of Bourbon and Catuaí derivatives produces dark chocolatey sweetness, some clean macadamia and hazelnut texture, and light, slightly tropical fruit; excellent as a classic espresso or delicious milk drink.
